‘Transformation’ is just about the biggest buzzword at the moment. And it’s one we all want to be true for ourselves.
We all want to enhance, improve or change an aspect about ourselves or our life. So what does it take to actually transform?
You want to start your own business but you are confused and need help deciding what to do next, the kids school run clashes with your website developer’s availability, you are not sure where the money is coming from yet and there is that brilliant workshop that will give you all the secrets you need which if you attend cuts short the meeting with…
Here are five simple steps to help you simplify and transform your life:
Step 1 – Make a decision and commit to it
With everything going on at once, life can sometimes make you feel as if you are stuck in in a washing machine on perpetual spin cycle!
You know you have to get the balance right but it’s all happening at once – where do you start?
Prioritise what needs doing. Make a decision on what to do and when. Then commit to that decision wholeheartedly.
If you are starting or expanding a business, having a blueprint for success takes away most of that confusion. So, decide to write the plan, then get to it you’ll know exactly what to do when and how!
Take action and do what you say you are going to do. That’s transforming confusion into clarity!
Step 2 – Set your boundaries
Be totally clear on what you want to transform and how. Write a list of what you will and won’t accept.
How do you want people to treat you, how you will treat others?
Really get down into the nitty-gritty of what is acceptable to you and what is not. Knowing this puts you in the position to quickly decide if something is working for you or not.
Transformation is all about understanding where you fit into the bigger picture. If you don’t want people to take advantage of you, set the boundary. When you feel your boundary is being crossed, stick to your guns.
You have your list of acceptable behaviours and actions, keep to it.
Sometimes saying no serves both of you more than saying yes… and that leads you to what you truly want. Keep your eye on the ball though, assess, review and amend as you go along.
Step 3 – Don’t worry about what others may think
Now you are feeling the flow of empowerment, you may feel your place in the bigger picture is changing. Your story is transforming.
Some people will applaud you for changing, some won’t.
Recognise your part in their lives is changing too… and not everyone likes change. Prepare for the changes and know that their opinions are only that. You can’t change what is in someone’s head, you can change how you react to things though.
You are walking your path, your way, and to truly transform, change has to happen.
Think of it this way: a seed has to break through its shell to transform into a seedling. Breaking through can sometimes be painful, so be prepared. Eventually, the seedling outgrows the seed pot and needs to be planted into a bigger space.
That’s a good thing! That is part of your journey, go with it. Change your view and you’ll change your world.
Step 4 – Feel the fear and do it anyway
Yes, change is scary. Yes, you will find yourself in new and unknown territory. That is what transformation does. Extending out your comfort zone is a huge step.
We are all afraid at times and that is good. It shows you are alert. Now use that to channel your energy to where you need it most.
You have gone through changes before and come out the other side. You got this one too. Deep breathes, trust your intuition and go for it.
I like to refer to that as a leap IN faith… think about that… Yes, you got it!
Step 5 – Connect with your tribe
No matter how much you transform and grow, you will always have someone who understands you. Find your group of angels and reach out to them.
Talking through issues, changes and life, in general, helps you feel connected and a part of something meaningful. Without people around you, who is there to cheer on your transformation?
You really don’t have to move through life suffering in silence. Science has shown us that talking through your changes can significantly improve your health.
So, what are you waiting for?
You’ve come this far so really transformation is almost here. Don’t give up five minutes before the finishing line!
You’ve written your list, clarified boundaries, got over what others think, you’ve pushed through and found your tribe – worth it… yes, indeed!
